How to get traffic to blogs and sites is the predominant question in every site owner’s mind. Every month tons of free reports are released about getting traffic to sites. I have read so much that if I just place the pen on paper my hands will start writing a traffic generation report.

Of late I have stopped downloading these reports. Most of them have the same content repeated over and over again.

Many also suggest creating a buzz by misleading others. I do not approve of such tactics.

I had a completely different experience today.

It all started with a simple quiz from Dean Hunt. Simple did I say.. it is unique and smart.

Just five questions in a PDF report.

I couldn’t believe it. I got 1 out of 5. :((

That too because I had already heard the fifth question some place. Had he used a different question in the place of question no. 5 I would have liked it better. But then I would have got ZERO!!!!

I am sure you can do better.

Have a look here…

From there I went and signed up for a free report.

And I got this gem of a ‘Web Traffic Case Study’. The report shows step-by-step how Dean Hunt created a buzz and got thousands of visitors to his site.

The beauty of it is the whole thing is absolutely simple when he explains it to us. He has taken a very ordinary list of 10 points and shifted the focus of the sentences very slightly, made a tiny change in the title and Wow!! did it create a buzz!!!

And his blog was on the front page of Digg and a beeline of visitors thronged to his site all eager to swallow his simple, super ideas.

You can get the free Web Traffic Case Study and check it out for yourself.

I am very particular about the language I use on my site and I don’t like the name of his site. I wish he had thought of a creative name for it.

But the report is superb! I wrote an email to Dean Hunt:

……………….

I appreciate the honesty in your creativity. This beats the usual perception honest, straight forward people are always a bore.

And the logical way in which you have analyzed your own creative work shows that you have the ability to teach it well to others.

Great report and great analysis. Looking forward to more from you.

…………………

His blog has a question that he was asked in an interview:

“Question: You are driving along in your car on a wild, stormy night, it’s raining heavily, when suddenly you pass by a bus stop, and you see three people waiting for a bus:

1) An old lady who looks as if she is about to die,

2) An old friend who once saved your life,

3) The perfect partner you have been dreaming about.

Which one would you choose to offer a ride to if there could only be one passenger in your car?”

To find the answer you have to go to his blog and read this post: Think Outside the Box

Nice review. Dean’s reports are great and I actually put them into practice on a site that had basically no traffic. The result, so far over 2000 people have viewed that page!

But I did like the name of his report. It’s classic Dean making it stand out from the crowd. A cheap trick maybe, but it got my attention.

Good luck with your site,
Craig
